Itinerary  of the skydiving over the Namib

  • You will be picked up from your accommodation and taken to the runway, where other skydivers may already be waiting for their skydiving tour. Alternatively, you can come to the airfield yourself.
  • At the airport you fill out an indemnity form
  • You will then receive an introduction to tandem skydiving and you can optionally (but highly recommended) book additional options (see additional options).
  • You will be called and provided with the necessary equipment for skydiving.
  • You will then be assigned a skydiving instructor and the actual flight and skydiving will begin.
  • The sightseeing flight begins and the aircraft flies to the desired skydiving altitude.
  • Together with your tandem instructor you jump out of the plane and the free fall begins.
  • After a few seconds, the parachute opens and you float down for about seven minutes.
  • At the end you land gently in the Namib Desert.
  • You will be brought back to your accommodation or, if you came by vehicle, you can leave immediately after landing. Get the adrenaline out of your legs a bit beforehand.

The complete tour lasts between two and three hours.

More information about skydiving over the Namib Desert

Own cameras: Your own camera equipment may be used on the plane, but for safety reasons not during the skydive!

Fitness and maximum weight: For safety reasons, Ground Rush Adventures has a weight limit of 100kg.

Clothing: Shorts or pants and a t-shirt. Depending on the weather, a jacket is also advisable. It is best to wear shoes that cannot be lost during the skydive, no flip-flops. Barefoot is okay too.

Minimum age/children: There is no minimum or maximum age, although a child must be large enough to be securely fixed in the safety belt. For those under 18 years of age, Ground Rush Adventures requires written parental consent

Companions: A person who accompanies you can fly with you on the plane, even if they don't want to jump themself. This must be booked in advance. Please let us know. The short sightseeing flights over the Namib Desert are also worthwhile if you don't want to do a skydive.

Scenic flight over the Namib Desert

In any case, skydiving over the Namib Desert includes a sightseeing flight until the sky-diving height is reached, with guaranteed unique views of the Atlantic Ocean and the adjacent dune belt of the Namib, the oldest desert in the world. The view of the coastal town of Swakopmund is also impressive. Even if you don't want to skydive yourself, but only want to accompany with a tandem sky diver, the tour is worth it.
